Boone (Iowa) Speedway held it’s 6th Annual Prelude to the Super Nationals on Saturday night, and like many others, Ricky Thornton Jr. would use the opportunity as a final test before the 38th Annual IMCA Super Nationals.
In his Excel Floor Covering No. 20rt IMCA Stock Car, Ricky grabbed a heat race win to earn the ninth starting spot on the feature grid. Thornton ran as high as second at times in the caution-free 25-lapper before slipping to a fifth-place finish behind David Smith, Jeremy Christians, Kelly Shryock, and Brandon Czarapata.
Picking up another heat race win in his Certified Inspection Services Co., Inc./ D&E Outside Services/ Lethal Chassis Modified, Thornton was locked into the twelfth starting position for the 25-lap feature. Advancing five spots, Ricky recorded a seventh-place outing.
