Thornton Races to Top-10 in Night No. 2 of the DIRTcar Nationals

Ricky Thornton Jr. was one of 51 DIRTcar Late Models on hand a Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla. on Monday. For the opening round of the 50th Annual DIRTcar Nationals, Thornton and the SSI Motorsports crew battled the handling on their No. 20RT Dyno One Inc./ Excel Floor Covering/ Sub-Surface of Indiana/ Longhorn Chassis/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model, ultimately failing to transfer into the $7,000-to-win feature.

Returning on Tuesday, Ricky followed up the second fastest lap in his time trial group behind Brandon Overton with a 8-lap heat race victory. Earning this third starting spot for the $7,000-to-win main event, Thornton slipped to a seventh-place finish in the final rundown.
