RTJ takes second in Alabama Gang 100 prelim at TST
After Thursday’s opener at Thunderhill Raceway Park (Summertown, Tenn.) fell to wet weather, Ricky Thornton Jr. followed the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series to Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Ala.) on Friday for the two-day Alabama Gang 100.
With the 48-car field split in two, Thornton raced into his preliminary feature with the third-fastest qualifying lap in his group. Climbing one position in the prelim that was shortened by rain to 16 laps, Ricky rolled to a runner-up finish.
He was slated to start Saturday’s $35,000-to-win Alabama Gang 100 finale in second before a threatening storm forced officials to postpone the finale to September 15th.
