Ricky Thornton Jr. notches runner-up finish in Rumble by the River at Port Royal

Ricky Thornton Jr.’s pursuit for the Castrol FloRacing Night in America title resumed on Wednesday afternoon at Lernerville Speedway (Sarver, Pa.) for the fourth round of the tour.

Joining 48 Late Models, Thornton raced into $20,000-to-win A-Main with a runner-up heat finish. Climbing three positions in the 50-lap feature, Ricky recorded a sixth-place outing.

For the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned Rumble by the River on Friday and Saturday at Port Royal (PA) Speedway, Ricky followed up a heat race win with a fifth-place finish in Friday’s 40-lap prelim.

Thornton’s weekend concluded with a runner-up showing in Saturday night’s $50,000-to-win Rumble by the River finale. He joined race-winner Jonathan Davenport on the podium with Max Blair coming in third.

Ricky holds a comfortable 230-point lead atop the latest LOLMDS point standings and is currently in second in the Flo Racing Series points race.
